Look at how much data I can fit in this URL without it taking up a lot of space on HN. In many chat softwares, you can use this [markdown](https://syntax.example.org) to hide it completely as 'click for source data' or something. Originally developed to put >140 chars on twitter, since hovering the link would show this text fairly readable, I now use it for a lot of things. This way, I'm not dependent on pastebin or whatever staying online indefinitely because the data is simply in the URL itself. I just wish there was a standard protocol for it, like data:text/plain,... being more commonly accepted (and easier to remember, e.g. text://)
